my automatic 350 does it when i downshift as long as the rpms jump to about 2000 to 2500

Would engines that have automatics also do this or is it only manuals because ive never seemed to notice it unless the magnums do it
and My step dad used to have a 93-94 Ford Ranger with a manual trans that did that, though he traded it in either in late 08 or early 09 for a 2002 Dakota though while riding with him ive never noticed either though his also has an automatic

It would if you manually shifted it into a lower gear, like 2nd or 3rd (depending on how fast your going).

+1 on that

when your driving, try shifting the lever to 2nd or 1st, youll hear it. mine does it when i just rev it up when its in park or neutral. im starting to think that this is just a multi-port issue, cuz my TBI 3.9 in my other truck doesnt do it, my buddies 350 is TBI and it doesnt do it.... i really wanna figure out how to change this... i HATE that sound!!

I did that today but it wasnt for that reason, but mine never did that so mabey that possibly has to do with direct fuel injection (or whatever the hell they call the kind that the magnums have)
