Have the motor or transmission ever been rebuilt? Ive seen motors last 300,000 miles if well kept, but thats usually the exception, not the rule. Same with the transmission.

Other than that if the truck is in good condition and runs well I see no reason to shy away.

I agree with sksyhark186 about them lasting past 300,000 miles as long as there takin care of with regular maintanece and reasonable usage (how it was driven), actually i think both the LA and the Magnum (which is what 92s and newer would have stock) are durable and long lasting engines though i have a lower milage 87 with only 128,1XX and it still runs pretty kickass even though i still want more power

My mom has my old 94 with the 3.9L and the 5 speed. it has almost 190,000 miles on it and it still runs great. In my opinion with high mileage dodge trucks its not usually the motor that you need to be worried about its more chassis parts especially IFS parts. (just from my experience but ive only had 3 dakotas, which is why i got a ram with a solid front axle)
But i would say go for it!

I would look at it this way. You don't know the history, so consider the price and weigh your options. GRanted you haven't driven it I take it, but see how much oil it is consuming also if the seller is honest with you.

The engines are pretty tough, and it is relatively easy to get parts or replacements. Not saying you will make 300,000 on it. I made 125,000 and had my head gasket go but the inside of the cylinders looked good.

The manual transmissions are a little tougher to find a shop willing to rebuild them in comparison to the autos. But the AX-15 is a pretty common transmission so if you ever did have to replace it you should be in good shape.
