Default Fan speeds up

1992 Dakota 3.9L V6- Recently my heat/air fan speeds up on occasion, for just a few seconds.

I suspect the ECM but not sure. I do have a check engine light and my mechanic says it was a charging error and said to check battery connection.

What error codes should I receive for the ECM-regulator ? Would it be a charging error ?

I have had a problem starting at times, as if the battery cable was loose, which I have cleaned and tightened.

It takes a few turns of the key for the starter to engage.

I dont know if this may be related to the ECM or just a cable problem.

Thanks

I think you have a few problems that are probably not related to one another and some (in terms of the battery) that may be related. Check the beginning of the FAQ and pull the codes for the CEL, then you will have a better idea what code in particular you are dealing with.

Also, read in there on the blower resistor. Sounds like that MIGHT be your problem for the blower. Normally it is when you lose settings but I guess it could also be the problem when your blower acts erratically.

Default Battery

Thanks for the reply

I have changed the blower fan resistor.

I will look more closely at codes.

Just getting old I guess. Over 200,000 miles.
