1990 Dakota - Stalls out at 40 mph - trouble starting
After checking the FAQ for the first gen Dakota, I found what I think is the problem I am having with my 1990 Dakota...
"Truck will not start- A common problem in the trucks, primarily ones made between 1993 Through 1995, was failure (corrosion) of the splice..."
I am having those exact symptoms with my 1990 Dakota, but primarily when I'm driving down the road all of a sudden the truck will just stall out dead. No warning signs, nothing, just dead. Then it's very hard to start up again. A few times I've had trouble just starting it as described in the faq. It turns over but won't start.
However this truck doesn't have a PDC and I cannot locate the splice. In the 1990 model the washer fluid reservoir is located behind the battery where the PDC is in the newer models. Would the splice be located under the washer fluid res? Also, where is the ASD relay located on the 1990? I was about to try the troubleshooting suggestions that were linked from the FAQ but cannot find the relay.
Any help with this would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
