Default Factory Amp?

I've had my truck for about a month now. It's a 95 sport with the 3.9 and my back speakers aren't working. Is there supposed to be a factory amp? I was up at the junk yard and saw something on another dakota. It was located on the passenger side wall, next to the heater box. Is that what I need?

first thing I would do is open up the cover and take a look at the speaker to make sure it is still functional/wired correctly.

Are you using the factory head unit?

No there were not factory amps. Your speakers might not be connected right or your head unit is not connected right or the wires in between the 2. Or the radio is dying or the speakers are dead. Test all possible combos to see what works and what doesn't.

I believe they started offering amps as an option on the second gen Dakotas in '97. Not first gen.

I checked all the wiring and it's a new head unit. I had it in the vehicle before for about a month and it was fully functional. But the guy who had it before me, did quite a cob job. The door panels say Infinity sound system but it's all aftermarket speakers so I'm not sure if I need the Infinity amp or what

I don't think you have an amp in there. Did you actually find the amp? If you do then it is not stock for that truck.

If its infinity you need to tear it all out. Then you can send it to me for proper disposal.

I would buy the wiring harness from wally fart and redo it. Well...that is if you think you can do a better job than he did. I wouldnt run new speaker wire unless you put in a harness and that doesnt cure your problem. Youll feel better knowing what you have back there too. Trust me.
