Default NV3500 question

Could I convert a 2wd NV3500 to accept a transfer case? I found a heck of a deal on a 2wd transmission, but it wont help me much if I cant make it fit a transfer case. I know the manual and automatic take a different t case because the two have different output shafts. Could I fix this problem in the conversion and use my current Tcase?

Thanks guys....it would save me a ton of money if this would work.

You could but you at least need the change the extension housing and I'm pretty sure the mainshaft (full transmission disassembly). More work than it's worth IMO.

By the time you bought a donor transmission and a transfer case and took the time to swap the parts, it won't seem like a sweet deal. I would say don't get this one and keep an eye out for a deal that better suits your needs.

Yes, it is a pain. AND you need to have the 2WD output shaft cut down and resplined to make it work, or replace it, and I think last time I checked it was about $230 or so for one. But hey, if it is that good of a deal and you can find a donor tranny for the tailhousing then I won't say it can't be done because I am working on the same thing right now too. The tailhousing though is integral to the tranny housing meaning you can't just swap it, you need to dismantle the whole tranny and swap the back housing.
