Default Strange Problem.. please help

so anyways, I recently got my truck lifted.. 2" suspension, 2" body, the mechanic extended the 4wd shifter by an inch incase i wanted to go with 3" body lift later.. anyways, I tried 4wd a few times since then.. but one of the times.. my 4wd gear shift got stuck up.. it pushed up so far it was into the bottom of my dash?.. i had to kick at it, and yank to get it back in place.. then, again today? it happened again.. btw this is in 4 high when it happens.. I was going up a hill.. as soon as I got to the top, it got stuck again.. this time up even further... and after being underneath and screwing around coudlnt see anything wrong?.. drove in reverse,, and it seamed to lower the shifter a little bit.. so then pulled it back , it was hard though.. still stuck up into the dash. and also while stuck in 4 high.. it was making a weird noise.. like it was halfway stuck kinda thing? like it didnt wanna move very great.. any help would be greatly appreciated..

The shifter rod has an adjustment. Sounds like that needs to be adjusted.

Another thing you could try is take the cap off the **** and loosen the lock nut and see if the **** is threaded all the way down.

When I did my body lift, the shifter sat too low, so when I did my transmission swap a week later, I had an extra 4x4 shifter so I hacked up the two rods and made a custom long one with a ~45* bend in it to clear the dash. It's a whole lot easier to grab now. If you have a welder and a steel rod the same diameter as the shifter, you could do something similar...

4LO: It just barely hits my center console, but I rarely use 4LO, so it doesn't bother me at all.
