Default Engine swap need info

Hey guys I have an '87 Dakota "MUD TRUCK" with a 3.9 and im swapping it with a '87 318 out of an old chrysler "BOAT". My first question is: what all am i going to need to change or replace for the swap? My second question is: im replacing my stock tranny with a 727 and I need to know if my stock transfer case will work and hold up? Thanks for any and all reply's i need the help..

Well, first off, since the 318 was not a factory option in '87, the hood-to-grill length was shorter back then. You cannot keep the mechanical fan, you'll have to get a pusher electric fan to mount in front of the radiator.

Your factory engine mounts should work, but I don't know if the 727 will require moving the transmission mount crossmember... someone else may know for sure.

Your transfer case should hold up though. They used the same transfer case for the v6 and v8 all the way through the 1st gens.

Thats all I can think of right now. It should be a fairly straight forward swap since the v6 is based off the v8 minus 2 cylinders.
