Default To splice or not to splice

So after I boogered up that harness on my front tcase output Ive been looking around. Only one I can find is off a 90 and the tranny connector is cutt off. Would it be ok if I just spliced the wires together individually? I dont see how it would cause an issue, but thought I would ask the greater wisdom to make sure.

nothing wrong with a good solid crimp or soldered splice that tests out with no resistance. (ohm meter test).

Ya you can connect it directly. But the only thing is water and dirt may get on to the connectors. Stock connectors use rubber seals. To keep out water/ moister and dirt. Solder the connections.

solder, shrink tube, electrical tape. done.
i hate crimp connections. when ever i have to use them to make something removable (plug n play), i take the plastic coating off, crimp it like normal, the solder it and shrink tube(2 sizes) it. one on the wire, and another over lapping piece that fits over the connector and previous smaller shrink tube. ive seen a lot of crimp connections go bad with age. just be sure the soldered connection doesnt have to bend/move, or it will break eventually.

+1 to soldering and using heat shrink tubing to seal it off. Crimp connectors have their place and under a truck where all the water and dirt is is definately not one of them.

Cool. I think the yard will probably more or less give me the piece I need. I have solder and all that crap so it will mostly be a freebie.

Sweet! Can't beat free (or nearly free). You should probably invest in some wire ties to keep them off the front axle :P

They threw it away on friday. Awesome. Especially since I didnt even ask them to pull it, I just wanted to know if they had one.

Sigh. back to square one. Sucks living in an area with one junkyard.

And I have TONS of zip ties.
