torque converters

Default torque converters

hey guys just have 1 question
1993 dakota
318 4x4 auto trans

should i put a high stall or low stall converter in this truck.
the truck is my everyday runner to work but i like to put it in the mud on the weekend also. dont really know the difference so i thought i would ask the dakota gods here for help thanks for your responses

You don't want a high stall converter for what you use it for. High stall converters are used for high-rpm launches in drag racing and will get you stuck easier in the mud. Also, they heat up the transmission fluid more and these trucks aren't known to have good transmission coolers... unless you put in an aftermarket one.

+1 Just get a stock style.

thanks guys will do. also crazy i got to ask u where u got the hood scoops on your truck. my dodge looks close to yours (will post pics soon)

This one may be your best bet. But double check all the specs like splines and tooth count. I would say go to the parts manuals we have listed in the FAQ and find the correct OEM part number. Then cross reference it on there site.

I got my hood scoops from www.jegs.com They were just add on's. I cut the hood open and made them functional. You can buy the entire hood with the scoops built in. Check the FAQ2 for several links.
