well thanks!, thats great to know!.. just hoping the tranmission now.. is fixable. I kinda had the same problem with my dakota when i first got it, about waiting till 3g before it shifted.. I forget what they did, but its perfect now. Just not sure about the shift linkage.. as like I said before, kinda seams as if there is no drive.. but if you were in nd gear, wouldnt it not shift? so it should be ok?

Not trying to be a S/A, but I just took a camera phone pic of the badge on my '92 RC LE & under the V8 emblem it says 5.2 liter EFI-& the EFI is in red-bought the pickup new from local dealer Dec. 26, 1991. Shoot me an email with your email add & I can send directly from 'phone. And yes it's a Magnum.

I agree 100% with skyshark. Back when my truck had an automatic, I pulled it once to do some work to the back of the engine and when I put it back on I had to adjust the shifter linkages to get the needle on the dash to line up with the letters.

The "swivel" which is the peice in the picture labled "Front shift rod, spring, and swivel" at the bottom below the spring is what needs to be adjusted. It going to be trial and error so loosen the lock nut and mess around with it 'til it you get it right.

The shifting issue sounds like the transmission either had a shift kit put in it at some point in its life or the TV (throttle valve) cable is out of adjustment. The procedure for adjusting it is in the FSM.
