Skid Plates!

Okay Got them installed today. They came out sweet! I thought the transfer case plate was for the transmission oil pan. (I know Hans5.2 has said it but I thought maybe it covered both.) That plate was off already when I was removing them from the junkyard. So I didn't know how it was mounted. Now that leave the transmission oil pan vulnerable. I will build my own plate for it. Hopefully within the next week or so. I will post up pics of it.
Front Skid plate I made a while back. I mounted it to the bottom of the bumper with a long strip of metal on the other side of the plate to reinforce the bumper. On the bottom side It just bolts up to the frame. The custom front hitch is what you can see in front of the skid plate.

Oh YEA plenty of pics of them saving my trucks A$$ from getting torn up.
LOL! The bolt is actually red. I lost one bolt. It always happeneds, lose one bolt or nut. Or you find an extra one, once your done! From memory it was a fender bolt off of the 4wd truck I took apart. The truck was red.

Lol, for me it's always leftovers. I have a small bucket of bolts that came out of my truck and never went back in :P

It shouldn't be to hard. We had 2 members who tore open theirs lately. Also 95_318SLT has an extra 231. If you live near him I'm sure he will hook you up with a good price. If you want you can open a new thread. Also we have the service manuals in the FAQ in this section. They will give you complete details on the rebuild.

Finally had time to install the Transmission Skid Plate that I made. Here it is. Now I am fully covered! Just one of the 3 big things for today.
Edit: I also had to modify the Gas tank plate. The drive-shaft was hitting it on crazy flex angles.

Yesterday I went out just for a quick trip offroading. I came up to a crazy angle hill. Not to bad. But when crawling it I got a loud Bang Bang sound. Turns out the drive shaft yoke is hitting the skid plate. So I had to get out the screwdriver and make enough clearance for now.

It is hard to see but it is too close to the drive shaft.
After!!
I cut and bent up wards the sides, to still protect it. The only bad thing it may trap water and cause rust. But here in NM it don't matter! Also the plate is mounted up to the brace by some adhesive. So I welded them together to get it a little stronger.
Here is one just for the fun of it. A quick test run of the winch.
