Default steering Rack 1993 4x4 Dakota?

I own a 93 Dakota V6 4x4 automatic with 175k miles.

I'm having trouble finding the steering rack/pinion in my truck, so where is it located? Do the 4x4 models have a steering rack because all I see is the steering box then a tie rod assembly. Is the steering rack with the driveshaft CV joint?

I feel confused because my Haynes manual doesn't give much detail about the steering rack.

The 2wds have rack and pinion steering, but the 4x4s have whats called parallelogram steering. You have a steering box, pitman arm, idler arm, center link, and tie rods.

You should download the '95 FSM... the link is posted in FAQ2. Its close enough to your '93 that you should be able to use it for almost any project. I haven't even picked up my shop manual since I downloaded that. Anyway, it has a section for every part of the truck and goes into good detail on troubleshooting and assembling/disassembling everything.

+1 on that! Especially since you can do a word search on it too.
