Default 1987 dodge dakota

my 87 flywheel has a dead spot used to be once a year id have to turn the flywheel pully so it will engage and start...well its gotten to the point where you have to do it every time you try to start it...just wondering if the flywheel has more teeth chipped off or if its worth investing in a new starter and hope thats the issue....

does anyone know if theres a how to on changing starters on here? i looked and couldnt find one...looks like only 2 bolts holding it on....?
Thanks!

There should be one large bolt on the top and bottom of the starter, other than the power leads this should be the only thing holding it on. It may take a little wiggling to get it to let go.

Here is a picture of the bolt locations.
