Default Front Differential Noise

So I have an 87' Dakota 3.9 v6 4x4 70,000 miles, The truck had hit a curb on the passenger side blew tire, rim, wheel bearing/hub, cv half axel, upper ball joint. I have replaced all of these and am getting a clunking sound coming from that side when I let off the gas. figured it was the driveline got it balanced changed the u joints still the noise. I keep blowing threw wheel bearing I know NAPA is sick of giving me new ones a couple days later and i'm tired of changeing it. am trying not to blow money at a shop when I can perform the work myself just has got me baffled a bit any sussgestion? anyone ever had this problem?

Sounds like you bent something out of alignment. Are the control arms straight?

Ya sounds like something is bent or broken. It's hard to say what it can be over the internet.

I took it in yesterday had the bearing hub assy. put on professionally they are guaranteeing it should go out..... My noise was coming from my rear end... what they said.... So I took the plug out and had a nice mixture of black gear oil and metal flakes. My new question is how hard is it to change myself? I got the tools..... just not sure about how hard it's to shim..... I've found another rear end for $395 swaped out with a 90 day warrenty but who knows how long that one will last.....

You dont have to shim the rear end. You unbolt the ubolts, and the brake lines, abs if you have it and pull it. Reverse it and your done. Depending on how rusty your ubolts are its either really easy or a huge PITA, but still not hard just annoying. Then of course you have to bleed your brakes.

Where are you? Ive got a 8.25 rear Id give you.
