Default question about 5 speed swap

i have a 93 V8 extended cab 4x4 with auto, i found a 94 with the same platform with a 5 speed. after reading the other posts i wasnt sure if i could use my current drive shafts and transfer case

will i need the drive shafts and the transfer case from the 94 also? really dont want to spend the extra money for the transfer case if i dont have to

thanks in advance

josh

The transfercase is the same. The drivesaft from the 94 will be needed. There is a great post in the FAQ2 that has all the info.

The transfer case on back of the nv3500 has a shorter input shaft than the one on the back of the auto, so you will need the transfer case. The driveshaft from the '94 is also needed because the nv3500 is 7 inches shorter.

Its a great swap! Here is my thread about it:

I have no regrets. Much more fun to drive and a lot more power to the ground.

I don't remember that! But I knew you would have had something I may have missed in your post.

The mating surfaces(tailcones, whatnot) are usually much shorter on manuals in general. A good number of manual cases will not work on automatics.

The input shafts are relatively easily changed however.

got a couple of pieces off the 94 tuesday. my buddy couldnt go with me so this is all i could get. not bad for $25 spent so far and another $200 for the complete tranny, transfer case and drive shafts from a 117k mile 94 dakota.

steering column and shaft
column covers
pedals
shifter bezel
wiper assembly, my bushings are bad and this one is perfect
