Looks like fun! But I would never run my truck in 4x4 with that different of a front and rear tire!! Too much risk of blowing up the t case.

They are both 31's the only reason I have the A/t's on the front is to try to prolong the death of the front axle. I just picked up a D44 out of a 96' Dodge half ton and I already had a 9" so it won't be long till I quit worrying about breaking the IFS then I will just be breaking D44 parts. I already don't have high range in that t-case anyways, just haven't took the time to pull it apart. I am getting ready to swap the half tons under and get rid of the bed as you can see it is getting pretty beat. I really need to get my exo built now that I am finished with the cage in my Scout. And all of the things that it is started up in the pics it made it up unassisted, I have some video if I can figure where to host it.

They can handle plenty!! But when you have two different brands of tires, even if they state they are the same size, there is almost always a difference in the total diameter. If the OP has been doing fine with those tires so far, chances are they are the same size and it won't be a issue, but if there are any differences in the speed of the front and rear axles on a surface that the tires have a lot of grip, the chain is coming apart and taking the case with it!!

To the OP, definately keep us updated on the SAS! What are your endplans for the truck? When I first looked at this thread I thought that was just a fun beater that you take wheeling, but it sounds like you have some real plans for it!

You can actually have a 3% difference in your ratio front to rear before you have any issues with bind. Plans are D44 front w/ 3 link, Ford 9" rear with leafs loose the bed shorten the frame and exo cage it.

This is my other project. Name: scout004.jpg
