CV boot issues
Ok so i am having some issues getting a new outter cv boot on the driver side
I removed it fine and got the one side on but the outside edge i just cannot stretch over and clamp down. did i get the wrong cv boot maybe? i am in a non-heated garage so i think im gonna try it inside tomorrow but is there any tips to get it over without stabbing a hole in it using a screw driver lol
Thanks
Nathyne

First off, welcome to DodgeForum!
I really don't think anyone on here can tell you if you got the wrong boot or not! At least not without pictures of what your working with. if you think its right, I'd say try heating up the rubber.

When I replaced mine, the boot was hard to get on. But be persistent. The air inside the boot also can fight you. I stuck a thick straw (took apart a pen) and place in on the other side. So the air can escape while you slide it on.
After i fought with the thing for an hour i decided that there was no way it was fitting went to canadian tire instead of part source they gave me a completetly different boot soft rubber and everything... last time i trust part source
I got new ones from auto machinery. in the box they were listed for an s10 or something. they were a much harder plastic compared to the soft rubber ones on there. they did go on hard but ive had no issues since(mid summer). try stealing a hair dryer from the bathroom to soften them up
the ones i got up here where like factory. they where soft. $20 each. the problem was the clamp. there is a tool you can by that puts the clamp on. good to have in your toolbox. i made my own , i took 2 pieces of angle iron from a bedframe, welded them at opposite angles. drilled a hole through them and put a nut and bolt through the holes, then welded 2 flat screwdriver bits on it to squeeze the clamp together. i drilled a hole in the top and tapped it for another bolt that pushed the top of the clamp down. works real well.
