electric temp gauge

Default electric temp gauge

i just put an electrictemp gauge in my truck and spliced the wire in the the sensor behind the alt. its a purple on on the left side of the the thermostat or should it be on the right side of the thermostat to that wire cause the gauge dont read but about 110 degrees

There are two temp sensors on these engines. The sensor with 1 wire is for the gauge. The sensor with 2 wires is for the computer.

It could also be that the gauge you are trying to use works on a different resistance range than the Dodge one.

A chart of stock "temperature to sensor resistance" values can be found in the 1995 service manual, page 14-70.

But here are 3 temp-to-resistance values taken from the chart:
32degrees F- Resistance range 29,330 to 35,990 ohms
104degrees F - Resistance range 4,900 to 5,750 ohms
212degrees F - Resistance range 640 to 720 ohms
