We finally got enough snow here this morning for me to get a couple of my truck in its winter gear.

 

Cool! Looks like you have fun with that plow. Is the plow from factory? How does the truck handle plowing? I sure wish we had that much snow.

I always wanted to see how they mount on. If you ever can take pics of the mounting on it, I would appreciate it.

 

Not a factory plow, IIRC those were Meyer units mine is a lighter and larger Snoway. The truck handles it well with the bars cranked to the max, a set of Timbren Load Boosters and roughly 600lbs of sand against the tailgate.

Ya know, your headlights will work better when you clear snow off them, on another note i cant even drive with loose snow on the hood because it will all just fly up while on the road,
though ill see about posting pics of the truck up with a fresh layer of snow on it after it snows again

 

LOL yea I brushed everything off about 15 minutes before the pic, between the snow coming down and the snow coming over the top of the plow that's what I ended up with.

What I woke up to




2 up the driveway at my parents

and a couple for Crazy, the gold bolt and two red handled pins are how the plow hooks to the truck


Uses bumper mount bolts to sandwich the mount between the frame and bumper mount


Thrust arms mount to the lower frame cross rail, no there isn't a gap just the way the flash made it look.

 

Thats cool! Thanks! I'm glad your truck is being used as a truck. To many don't use it at all as a truck. If you got anymore info at all on a the plow or any plow for our trucks post it up. I will post this in the FAQ2. Tons of good info for anyone who wants to install one.

 

My poor truck is used and abused, it really needs some TLC from the welder. lol

I've got a little bit more info on the plow mounts available (or that were I should say), it should be noted that any plow labeled conventional (ie that mounts behind the bumper and the pump/lights aren't removable) are actually prohibited by Federal law from being installed on a vehicle newer than 1994. Mounts with a * next to them have plows still available.

Now in my experience a mount from a 97-04 truck can be modified to work which opens up more
options, the upper plow mount holes will need to be redrilled and the lower thrust arms will
need to be shorted and holes drilled in the truck lower cross member.

What is listed above is just the mount there are a myriad of wiring choices and would have been
too much to list as they vary from year to year and what control method is used.
