Default New guy here QUESTIONS QUESTIONS!

Hey all, I've been looking at the before and after pics. Some of you have done an amazing job!

I just bought a used 1996 Dodge Dakota, V6 4x4 auto. I needed 4 wheel drive since I sold my Subaru wrx limited (will be missed). I'm interested in getting my truck painted possibly this summer. However I wanted to see where I can get a new grille (it's cracked) and also, wanted to get some opinions on a lift kit.

I have another car, so I can have some down time for this is not my primary vehicle.

Any recommendations? I'm looking to spend under a grand, cheaper the better I've been trying to save up for a new house.

Glad to be apart of the forums looking forward to hearing from everyone. Thanks

Welcome to DodgeForum! Post up some pics of your truck!

I'll start by saying read through faq and faq2, because those 2 pages have lift ideas, parts sites, and a ton more info!

As for the paint, are you trying to paint it yourself? What experience do you have and what do you have access to for paint supplies? For a cheap but labor intensive paint job, check out what this guy is doing...

I painted my truck with Du Pont automotive base coat/clear coat paint last summer but I worked several years in a body shop to learn how. It costs more money than something like that link above, and it requires much more skill, but it takes less time and looks better.

You're truck is the one I was referring to in my post. Amazing job, looks great!

I'll do my best to get it cleaned up and get some photos. The salt has gotten the best of it, I just bought it Saturday.

I don't have much "body work" experience however we have the tools to paint and a garage. I'll check the FAQ's thanks for the information!

Thanks man!

I have another '95 2wd dakota thats a bare frame right now in my garage that I'll be starting body/paint work this spring. I'll be doing a good write up while I'm at it if you stick around on here it should help you out a lot! In the meantime, I have a general writeup thats linked in either faq or faq2 about doing body work but it has no pictures. Its not hard, its just tedious and requires a lot of patients! But like with everything, the right tools make it much easier!
