engine swap, what fits?
I have a 2wd '95 dakota w/ the 5.2 magnum and automatic trans. Will a 5.9 bolt right in place (like a chevy 305 and 350) or are they different externally? Also will the fuel injected intake manifold from my motor fit and work on an older carbureted 318? Thanks, fatso.
Thank you, I was just trying to figure out how to move to that section. My motorcycle is a 2nd gen, so I went there with out thinking.
Chevy is a different manufacture. There engines will not fit without Tons of modifications. A 350ci is a 5.7L, 305ci is a 5.0L.
Chrysler engines are for these years are Magnums. Yours is a 5.2L Magnum (318ci). A 5.9L (360ci) Magnum is the same as yours externally. It is a simple swap. You will just need the engine from heads down. Including the harmonic balancer and the flywheel/flex plate. The computer and injectors from the 5.9 is best for performance but not needed if not available.
5.9 Magnums came on 93-02 Dodge Ram, Vans, Dakota, Durango. And some Jeep Grand Cherokee.
If you need more info check the FAQ2 in this section for more on this swap and tons more modifications.
