96 Dakota SLT drums and rotors 9" or 10"
Time has come to do the brakes, front and rear, but everywhere I look for pads and shoes asks me if I have 9" or 10" drums and rotors.
How would I go about telling what size my drums and rotors are? I'd prefer not buy a measuring tape if I can help it. And the vin decoder doesnt tell.
Thanks.

So how do I measure these, got a measuring tape I found in the truck.
Do I ust measure the rotor edge to edge, and do I measure the drum from the inside or outside?
I'm getting 11.2"

I did my brakes when I 1st got my truck and I do believe they are 10" .Cause when I went to replace the springs in the drum. Autozone accidently gave me 9" spring kit and the springs were tooooo tight and had to take them back for 10". So I would think they may be the same as yours.
As far as I remember, the differant size brakes are on the rear, not the front.
I don't know how to measure the rear brake size, but I think it's listed on a sticker under the hood. (?)

As Crazy said, the 9 or 10 inches is determined by the inside diameter from machined surface to machined surface.
I just don't know what the distance would be as measured from the outside of the drum (ie. not removing the drum).
