Default valve covers

Ok i have a small leak around the valve covers. Im going to replace the gaskets tomm. Since the covers are off should i look for any other problems?
Push rods, rocker arms ect...

Just look for anything out of the ordinary. If you have any gunk built up around the springs. Clean them. And clean out the oil return ports with a hanger or something similar.

You can use brake cleaner. Just get any gunk if any out of there. Less crap to fall down into the pan and get picked up by the oil screen.
