Default dual exhaust questions

Hey guys. Does anyone that has true dual exhaust have any pics of their setup? I would like to have something to show the shop that I am thinking about having coble something together for me. I ask for pics cause lots of questions are answered in pics such as what to do with the o2 sensor and how to get around certain obsticles. And its handy to leave them a copy so that they don't have any chance to miunderstand what I write. Thanks.

i personally would not go true dual i would run either an h or x pipe depending on what kinda power gain your looking for if you want to do exhaust work. H and X pipes make the pressure equal in both pipes which makes more power dont ask me why lol and both sound pretty good, and as far as the o2 sensor and getting everything to fit a good exhaust guy wont have to ask. hope this helps.

Yes it does. I was wondering about that. I know there has to be a certain amount of back pressure in order for the system to work correctly. Mind you, I can replace nearly any part on a vehicle as long as I get to take it off. And I have helped rebuild a couple engines. But I am no expert and thats why I love this forum! All you experts can help educate my ignorant backside :P.

I picked up a copy of Mopar Action this last week and read some of the article that was in there about a first gen dakota that got a major over haul for the drag strip. I was really surprised when I saw that instead of doing dual exhaust on it they kept the single exhaust but replaced the Y-pipe with a beefer and less beat up factory one. They claimed that this was a huge bottle neck and the replacement functioned much better. So I guess I am convinced to get a better y-pipe and keep my manifolds, punched out cat, and glasspak exhaust.

I have a dual with a flowmaster muffler going from 1 inlet to 2 outputs and it ends with 3.5 inch tips. Its loud and sounds very agressive, you'll love an exhaust on yours.

Instead of gutting the cat which i think "punched out cat" means, I got it replaced with a straight pipe. I gutted the cat temporarily then replaced it with the pipe, and theres a pretty big difference, unless its just in my head. Also depends if you have emissions testing, here in Iowa we don't.

Then it sounds like a y-pipe to 2 glasspacks. That'll be loud!!

I have got a flowmaster 44 single-to-dual muffler on with no cat, and you can definately here me coming down the block.
