Default Newb Advice

Hello,

I'm currently in the market for a pickup truck. Specifically, I'm looking for a pure utility vehicle for making hardware store runs & moving stuff locally. The truck would be utility vehicle only - not a daily driver.

I've been cruising my local Craigs List ads and happened across a 91 Dakota (link - quoted below) that seems to fit my needs.

I'm here seeking knowledgeable and experienced thoughts and/or recommendations -- especially Any thoughts (or links to posts/articles) on pricing, pre-sale questions to ask the seller, and/or things to look for while inspecting would be much appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

~AJ

Perfect work truck with a ton of life left in it, the bad is that it has the typical Mopar paint peel, but who needs a pretty work truck right?

Welcome to DodgeForum!

Looks like it would make a good work truck. Not a bad price either.

Top things to look out for would be ball joints, tie rods, and transmission. The easiest, fastest way to check out the ball joints and tie rods is look at the front tires for irregular wear. If they show any signs of irregular wear, then you should take a closer look at it. As far as the transmission, just smell the fluid to make sure its not burnt, and check the level. Make sure there is no slipping in any gear and overdrive works properly.

Maybe someone else will have more to add, but most anything else to look at would be common for buying any used car or truck.

You can also read through the faq page for common issues and descriptions.
