Default 93 dakota 5.2L distributor gear/bushing

Does anybody know the best procedure for removing the distributor gear/bushing on a 93 dakota 5.2 ? I'm getting lousy gas mileage. I just can't seem to get the truck running smooth. I checked the slop factor on the rotor. It seems to be at 3/16 or more for slop; supposedly, that's bad. Anybody's knowledge would be appreciated.
Thanks

It shouldn't be to bad. Just unbolt and remove the distributer. Then most likely the gear is held on with a pin. I would suggest take a look through the service manual to get the correct info.

As far as it is your major problem for poor MPG's I would say its doubtfull. A good tune up and light foot is your best bet for better MPG's.
