Default No Electrical Power...93 5.2L

Ok, Here's another good one. I fixed the problem with the Neutral Safety Switch the other day and its been starting and running perfect.

I drive the truck to the store last night and had no problems. I go to start the truck this morning and there is absolutely no power going anywhere. I checked the battery and connections and its all good there. WTF am I missing? I looked in the FAQ section and didn't really get an answer to what I need to look next.

Now if you ask me about my ZJ I could tell you. But this truck seems to have been made half-*** backwards.

HELP!!!

No power at all? So no lights, horn, radio absolutely nothing?
Most likely your battery is dead or the connectors to the battery are loose or corroded.
Or the battery ground wires are loose or corroded at the body and engine connection.
Or the power wire is corroded or loose at the starter connection and at the relay box.

Yeah, Absolutely NOTHING. I'm trying to track it all down now. I'm checking the wiring now and so far so good. Everything looks ok. I have to check the wiring at the starter next. But I did notice the ground wire at the battery to be a little loose but its impossible to pull it out of the lead connection.

I know its not the battery cause I started my Jeep with it. Battery if fine.

So I checked the wires to the starter and they are good. I only have 2 wires going to the starter. 1 from the battery and one I guess is from the ignition switch. I did find one of the nuts loose on the starter but I don't think that one wire would kill the whole truck.

I'm kinda thinking either the positive connector to the fuse box has a bad connection. Which I'm thinking about deleting that connector and put a big butt connector in place to give it a permanent connection. I peeled the wiring harness back to see if the positive splice is corroded and its fine.

Now my next guess is to check the main positive wire to the fuse box under the hood. To see if there's a bad connection there. Shouldn't I be able to check the voltage on the positive side of the fuses instead of taking the whole box apart. To see if power is equal all the way across the fuse bridge?

i had a problem like that once. it turned out to be a bad starter. i would suggest takign the starter in and having it checked.

If your not getting power to anything, I don't think it would be just the starter? I could be wrong but that doesn't seem quite right?

You should be able to get power from one side of the fuse terminal for each fuse. Have you checked the soldered wires under the hood which all branch together? Apparently they corrode and make a bad connection. Also, if you can find the main power lead to your fuse terminal, you can use a pin to poke into the wire and test for power with out cutting the wire.

Is the wiring harness on both sides of the firewall connecting properly? A connector in the harness going into the firewall from the engine bay was broken and I lost power to my lights and other components.

If your starter doesn't work either, I would agree with Crazy, one of the large main power wires or ground wires must be loose, broken, or detached.

Other than that, sounds like you have some wire tracking to do. A voltmeter or multimeter may be your best friend when it comes to electrical lol.

I checked everything out and come to the conclusion that it was the connector that goes from the battery to the under hood fuse box. I will be cutting that connector out and giving it a more solid connection.

i know it sounds weird oxygen, even to me( they guy who had the same problem and all it turned out to be was the starter) but after driving a dakota around for a few years, nothing seems weird to me anymore.
