Bulletproofing the engine

Default Bulletproofing the engine

im gonna get a 95 v6 dakota w/85k 5 speed manual and am looking for info on any tips for bulletproofing the engine

problem areas
good parts to replace before failure
etc

The engine itself should be pretty good. Just think about your sensors and hoses and vacuum lines and maybe a coolant flush. You may wanna inspect the radiator, cap, and thermostat.

thats good to hear about the engine...im coming from a VW GTI and i had to do quite a bit of bulletproofing to feel comfortable pushing that engine

I hear ya. But you gotta understand these trucks are a different beast. So going from a cc engine to American Muscle HP is apples and oranges.

The weakest point of these engines is the valve springs. The valves will start to float long before the bottom end of the engine is at risk of damage.

well this engine looks much simpler so i am confident i can handle it...after workin on a FI car an NA dodge should be easy...that and this is my 11th vehicle
