AntiLock Light....
SO my anti lock light is on it just came on all random. I checked my fluid and it was a bit low. But here is the kicker my truck does not seem to have ABS I looked for an ABS control box and no dice. And i have no abs relay under hood so why the hell is this light on! HELP please thank you
Your truck has rear anti lock brakes only. There is a sensor on top of the pumpkin for the rear anti locks that is the probable culprit for why the light is on. 4 wheel ABS wasn't introduced until 1995. The ABS module doesn't look like much. One of the other guys on here can prolly get ya a pic of what it looks like and where it is...
its a 92 and just the abs light is on. no brake light. I need to do a full brake job soon but i was hoping to get by a few more months so i didnt have to buy it all at once. what should i check/replace first. I suppose i need to start in the rear eh? anyone know where i can get some drum covers cheap mine cant be turned again i turned em when i worked at brake check and they were not round so i wont be able to turn em again safely
Heck here you can get drums from fleet farm for like 30 dollars each. I would also recommend doing the wheel cylinders if they haven't been done yet as they are very prone to leaking. Otherwise any auto store should have them. Oh and the cheap ones usually aren't turnable SAFELY, at least not any I've ever seen.
Your best bet is to look under the hood, just a little bit under the brake master cylinder, you will see a metal box with 2 cylinder looking things on it. One of those 2 cylinder things is the reason that your ABS light is on. Or even easier and cheaper, look into the ABS sensors and replace them both. There's only 2, one on each side in the rear. Not exactly sure where they are located tho, if there in the drum plate or what, but maybe somebody else knows...

It will have a sensor on each spindle and your cv axles will have tone rings. You will also have another ABS box under the hood. Also, your sticker will say if it is 4 wheel ABS IIRC. Oh, and as to a previous post, there is only 1 sensor for the rear ABS(I mentioned this earlier.) It's on top of the axle housing(pumpkin.)
