Default Cant keep it running :(

1990 3.9L

Cant figure it out i start the truck it runs for around 15 minutes the just dies out. It almost sounds like its getting choaked out but i have no idea. And if i try to start it after it dies i can't start it for around thirty minutes And then when it does start it runs only for a few minutes. i was thinking it was the autoshutdown relay but not to sure. plus i cant find that realy at an auto part store to purchase one anyhow. any suggestions i could use them

Does it sputter or misfire before it dies or does it just shut off? Because if it just cuts off with no sputtering or anything, mine was doing that and it turned out it was the ECM (the brain).

My 90 did that. Check the coil and wire to the distributer. Mine was loose.

It could be may things. I would suggest get out the voltmeter. Start checking for correct power at the ASD relay, Fuel pump relay, then the computer, and fuel pump ect.

It all will be around 11-12 volts.

90 doesn't have the shutdown relay. Only two relays on the inside wall of the left fender. I think the front is the fuel pump relay. As for voltage I can only guess you are looking for 12 volts.
