Replacing Manual Door 95 Dodge Dakota SLT
I have to replace driver door, as hinges have rusted thru, and I'm just looking for some basic information. I understand taking the bolts off the frame, and have a couple doors scouted so far, but would like to see some type of picture of what I'll be doing. I have to replace "any" mirror, with my larger towing mirror, and probably put my own rain guard on the replacement door, but was show some wiring, supposedly going thru to the emergency brake?? .. Just wanted to make sure I do this correctly, if anyone has any advice! Thanks so much, Michael
Not a big deal, pull off the interior panel of the door, disconnect any of the wiring in the door and pull it off the mountings.
Unhook the rubber flex between the door and body and pull the wiring (if any) through.
Support the door at the back edge with a jack and have a helper or some straps holding the upper part of the door.
Take a hammer and your choice of tool (ie long screwdriver, 12 ratchet extension, etc.) and drive out the pins in the door hinges.
Then installation is reverse of removal to quote the Haynes manual.
Mirrors, once the door panel is off there are IIRC 3 nuts holding it on, pull them and the whole thing will be free.

I had the same problem. But Im pretty broke so I got in and out of the passenger door for like 8 months so the door wouldnt fall off. I finally found a guy who rewelded everything for $500. Side note. So i used the truck to deliver pizza in. Picture the pizza dude pulls up and hops out the passenger side with your pie. It was def a conversation starer. And I think people felt bad too and threw a couple extra bucks my way. Good thing I had the bench in there.
The hinges unbolt. No need to remove the pins.
