Default Np231d

I have a 93 Dakota , V6, manual transmission. I have been having issues with my transfer case leaking and then the chain stretches and jumps off the gears for 4 wheel drive. Years back i obtained a rebuilt transfer case and a new drive shaft. I called a salvage yard who told me that my 93 dakota has a transfer case specific to 1993 only. Does anyone know if that is true or if there are other vehicles with the 231D style. I am even wondering if the rebuilt transfer case i got is the right style now beign i had a shop do it and it leaked from the get go. Or maybe the shaft that slides in from the drive shaft is too short ? Need help finding a suitable transfer case non-the-less

The answer you are looking for is in one of the FAQ pages at the beginning of the 1st Generation page.

Welcome to DodgeForum!

This page should give you the differences between all the years...

http://www.drivetrain.com/parts_cata...rts/dodge.html

But keep in mind that parts are interchangeable between the different years if you have the tools to pull the cases apart.
