Default oil pressure issue

After my Dakota had sat for 2 weeks due to my transfer case blowing up on me I got that all taken care of and now my oil pressure is acting up. When cold I have good oil pressure. But when I drive it and its up to temp. and I come to a stop it drops right off to 0. I have replaced the oil pressure sending unit and added a mechanical oil pressure gauge. I did a motor flush on it which actually boosted the pressure when its cold. But as I said running down the highway my pressure is only around 20 and then when I come to a stop it will drop right down to 0 and trip the oil light. Any ideas?

Sounds like you need to drop the oil pan and check out the pump. Were you offroading when your TC cratered? Any chance your oil pan took some damage?

Nope...I think the guy I bought the truck from replaced the rear end with different gears. And didnt realize what he was doing. So I have that issue kind of taken care of. So no I have even ran it in 4x4. Hell I have only had this truck a little over a month. And as I said my oil pressure is up just over 60 at first start up but once hot it drops right down to 0 when your sitting still.

you could have a bunch of crud in some of you oil passages that prevents it from draining back to the pan as fast as it needs to to continue getting good pressure. but i would also start with the pump, you can throw a little sea foam in with the oil to see if you can clean some gunk out but change your filter first that stuff really cleans some gunk out.
