Default Bypass EGR valve AND get CEL off?

Is it possible to disable a non working EGR valve and get the CEL off? I don't have to do emissions and the CEL is bugging me, was hoping there was a way to get it to turn off without paying $75 for a new one. Maybe somone knows...I think 95_318SLT said you can use later gen exhaust manifolds and let the EGR valve hang, not sure why is it throwing my CEL though.

Yup, thats exactly what I did. I have non-egr intake manifold and headers and I just plugged the valve into the wire harness and let it hang there. I think its thrown the code only once or twice since I did that, and both times were during long trips on the interstate. But otherwise, the light stays off.
