Default Fuel Pump & filter....

Hi guys,

On my 1995 Dodge Dakota 3.9Liter V6 Magnum the fuel filter is clogged again and I'm getting sick of replacing the entire fuel pump everytime the filter clogs since it has a hockey puck looking filter on the bottom of the pump and having to spend around $200 because of some damn dirt buildup BS. Is there any way I could take the filter off the bottom of the pump then reinstall the pump then put a $10 filter in a rubber hose section of the fuel lines if there is a rubber section of fuel line?

Second clogged filter since I bought the truck in October '06...seems ridiculous to spend $200 because a fuel filter clogged if I could use a $10 one from NAPA or somewhere.

Dodge part #4864307 is the filter itself, though when you drop the tank I'd give it a thorough cleaning and if you fill up at the same station every time try someplace different.

Are you serious???? I had 2 different mechanics tell me that the only way to get a replacement filter was to buy a new fuel pump since they come with one. To think once already I wasted $200 for nothing when it was a fix for under $30 of the filter cost. Just my luck...

So I can get that filter by giving either a local Dodge dealer or like a NAPA the number and they can order it?

Thanks.

Dealer only part more than likely, in the FAQ is a part book for the 94-96 trucks that will have listing for whatever factory numbers you could ever want.

does that part number apply for a 97 dakota 5.2L? or is it prolly different? I want to replace the fuel filter on my truck as well, but dont want to shell out 200 bucks for a whole new pump.
