Default Code 46

Well the saga continues with my truck. I replaced the timing chain and gears as mine were stretched. Truck is running a lot better and is drivable but now I get a code 46 and it misses a little for a few minutes after I try putting in gear. When I first put it in gear it stalls and acts like I am giving it gas. I think the torque converter may not be full or pumped up when it sits over night. After I drive it a few miles or move gear shift thru the gears a few times it seems to clear up and acts normal. 1995 3.9L automatic 2wd.

What would cause this? Over active alternator or what? Every once in a while I get a pop thru speakers and charging needle on gauge jumps.

Have your alternator and voltage regulator tested before it fries something...you don't want to be chasing shorts in Dodge wiring...it's a rats nest.

IIRC, the voltage regulator is in the computer, so if its bad you need a new computer. But check the voltage at the battery terminals with the engine running and engine revved up to about 2500-3000 rpm and see if its around 14.4. If it is, reset the computer and see if the code comes back.

Changed out PCM with one I bought from here and not getting pop or needle jump anymore. I had to put a quart of tranny fluid in as I have a leak around my pan. It was causing the torque converter not to lock up right. Now it shifts smoother.
