Default time delay relay?

i was messing around with the fuse box in my truck earlier, i moved my fog light wires so it is fused in the fuse box and when i was putting everything back togethor i noticed that the time delay relay was burning hot(i literally burned my hand on it)

has anybody had this problem? or is it normal for the thing to be hot to the touch?

I'm not sure if it's normal for it to be that hot.
If you remove it, you should only loose power to the courtesy lamp (illuminated passenger side floor), and the halo-lamp around the ignition switch.

when i close the doors that thing is supposed to keep the halo light and passenger courtesy lamp on for a bit? i'm thinking that it only got that hot because i had the dorr open for a bit although i did take the bulb out on the passenger side and the dome light out.

Yes, it should keep those lights on for a certain amount of time after the door is closed.

ah ok... yeah i had my door open for about 10 -15 minutes during that time that would explain the heat.

I had my door open for less than a minuta and melted the skin on my finger. Im worried about it causing a fire.
