Default Trans fluid sample is concerning

Sup Forum,

so we replaced the NSS on my truck and i gathered about half a quart or so of trans fluid. i started to drain the fluid into the storage container. I noticed the fluid had a bit of "stuf" in it so i gathered it on a paper towel.

here is what i have found:

this is an amount of clutch material. I know some wear would be normal at 165K but i'm not tryin to have to do a rebuild too soon on this guy.

Tell what cha think!

Thx!

Not knowing the history of your truck, but knowing it has more than 160K miles on it...doesn't look too bad. If it shifts okay and doesn't leak, I would drop the pan and do a fluid/filter change...or at least take it to a shop to do a tranny fluid change on the machine that exchanges the fluid while the truck is running.

When I dropped my trans pan at about 90K miles or so, I found a piece of metal that my grandpa said looked like a piece of thrust washer (this was a good size piece, like a quarter-moon shape).
Found these pieces TWICE.

Finally replaced the trans at about 105K or so.
The trans didn't give out, but the issue was that if I accelerated too fast from a dead stop on level ground, or accelerated slightly less than just a little on a uphill grade, the trans would shudder.
