1990 Dakota Cranks But won't start
I've got a 1990 3.9 4x4 Dakota with a 5 speed. I just bought it with the engine torn apart so I've never seen it run. I replaced the head gaskets and reassembled everything no problemo.
When turning the key, it cranks just fine but there doesn't seem to be any spark from the coil wire. I'm not getting any voltage reading from either side of the coil primary connectors to ground. I'm not hearing anything from the fuel pump. The temperature gauge is pegged though.
Am I missing something? I keep reading about an ASD relay and bad splices.
Two weeks to Deer season!

I would check the slice could be a reason, coil could be shot, could be a lot of reasons. Get a voltage meter and check to see if your getting power INTO the coil, if you are replace the coil, if your not, check the ASD relay and go from there.
I forgot to mention I replaced the coil. Where is this splice and ASD on a pre magnum motor? I also forgot to mention that I have a HUGE advantage to solving this problem as I have an 88 parts truck. The spark control is different though.
