91 starting and stalling problem
I have a 91 Dak 4x4 with a 318 la tbi motor with 155000 miles that I just picked up.
Here's the problem.
Drove it home from buying it (40 miles) with no problems. It needed some things fixed (tonneau cover) and while trying to move it around the yard it stalled and wouldn't start back up. After coming here and reading the faq and doing some searching I went out and determined that I wasn't getting any spark. Left it for the day and went to pick up parts (coil, cap, rotor, wires, plugs). Got home and tried it before putting the parts on and it started fine. Put the parts on anyhow hoping it was a bad coil wire or something. Truck ran great so decided to take it to work... mistake. It stalled in mid journey and wouldn't restart. Got it towed home (no spark again) and left it for the night again. Next day it fired right up. I went through the wiring harness between the computer and fuse box but found nothing there. Started the truck and drove it around the yard for over a half hour with no problems.
Being a 91 318 tbi I am to understand that there is no crank/ cam sensors and maybe this is a computer issue. Seems like this is a bit of a "odd duck" model and I can't find much info on it. Even the haynes manual doesn't acknowledge that this exists. I'd appreciate any help. I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure it out and now I'm paranoid to take it anywhere for fear it will strand me.
Thanks.

Its the PCM. I would put money on it.
My 92 was doing this same stuff, and it took me forever to figure out the actual cause, after replacing literally every sensor and ignition component under the hood.
