a few questions about my 94 4x4 v6 dakota
Its been awhile since i've been on this site. I've gone from a 2wd dakota to a 4x4 F150, then to a Honda Prelude, and then back to a 94 4x4 v6 dakota. I've learned alot along the way with each vehicle. One of the first things I want to modify on my dakota is the exhaust. When I first bought the truck I replaced the stock muffler with a glasspack, it sounds alright but i'm thinking about removing the cat. When I had my F150(302 v8) I punched out the cats and it had a nice sound to it and it didnt seem to affect the performance in a negative way. Will removing the cat on my v6 dakota negatively affect it in any way? If so how? Are there other ways to give it a nice rumble besides an engine swap? When I had My honda Prelude I put on a cold air intake and that seemed to improve the sound and performance of the car. Do they make cold air intake systems for 94 dakotas? Or will a K&N give the same result?

Gutting out or cutting off the cat is illegal. So depending where you live and if you have emission testing or inspections you will need it.
As for performance it may help slightly but in my opinion on a v6 it is not worth it if it is in good shape.
As for a cold air intake, the stock pipes are already a cold air intake. It draws fresh air from the front of the truck. A performance filter will help. K&N will work.
