Default Fuel Injection to Carb Swap 5.2

I have a 93 Dakota with a fuel injected magnum 5.2.
I wish to switch to an Edelbrock Air Gap RPM and 4 bbl carb.
I know I need to switch the distributor to a traditional complete with
electronic box and ballast resister. My question is can retain the overdrive
transmission and how do I get the computer to tell it when to lock up the converter and when to engage the overdrive?

Other than that I think I am all set.

Thanks in advance.

First why switch to the Carb? You can hook up simple toggle switches to control the OD and TCC.

just don't leave your tc locked up....my friend did that and...well lets say the clutch hit so hard it jerked the car so hard he almost lost control and broke the shaft going into the tc...twisted it right in half.

Well I am not used to this fuel injection and like to tinker as you can see by the engine I just built. If I have a carb and distributor I can tweak the engine a bit more and I guess fix it if I ever need to> I was a hot rodder for too many years and well enjoy being able to play with the tuning if need be. I just built a new 46rh and will put that in next week end. The body has 141,000 kms (which is about 90,000 miles and doesn't have a speck of rust anywhere inside or out or under for that matter. When you wipe the rustproofing off the frame it is still clean metal ! I will attach a photo if I can figure this out again how to do it. I now have 500 miles on the engine and ready for first oil change. I love this site thanks for the feed back guys.
