Default 94 dakota sport v6 egr and dies intermittently

This is my first time here so thanks to any help i get in advance. I have a 1994 dakota sport v6 4wd and one day it just died wile driving, no sputtering or anything. Ever since then occasionally it will die or not want to start, when this happens and turned to accessories the check engine light does not come on. When it does the fuel pump pressurizes and starts right up. I get different dtc every time mostly its direct battery disconnect to pcm and now im getting egr fail. Ive checked the fuse box, relays and battery etc. I found some oil leaking on the egr connector, and when i moved the wiring harness near the fuse block i could hear it come on and off like maybe a break in the wire. Ok so does anyone know would one of these problems be causing the other and besides a break in the wire what else would cause the dying condition? Thanx sory for the long post.

Same thing happend to my truck. I got a 95 Dakota 3.9 SLT and it ended up being the computer. I replaced it and the truck has been a champ ever since. I also work with a guy that had the same problem and he also had to replace the computer which fixed his problem as well.

Sounds like the notorious splice. There are 2 power splices by the relay box that corrode and cause loss of power to the computer and fuel pump. Since you found out moving the wiring harness turns is all on, then that defiantly sounds like your problem. Check the FAQ in this section for a write up on the splices including there location.

Yeah, definitely check the splice before you're out of $200.
