Default Catalytic converter

My catalytic conver went bad on my 1995 5.2 and I need to replace it before inspection in dec. Now here comes the question. It's welded on but I have no tools or skills to tackle that and I don't wanna pay crazy shop bills. Can I cut it off and put a bolt on one in it's place?

They don't BOLT on. They are designed to slip on to the other pipe. If needed you can buy some slip on adapter at most auto parts stores. Your going to have to piece it all together your self.

Or just cut off the old one and cut the new one to fit. Then take it to most muffler shops and have them weld it in. $50 or so.

Well I got a universal magnaflow converter with a flowmaster 40 muffler. I hope it turns out well. How much exhaust pipe do you think I'll need? if any? Also think I should just replace all pipe while I'm down there? (cat back)

Just a side note, it was a 2.5 inlet and outlet. That's stock right? From what I gathered when I was looking at a Direct replacement that was a 2.5 in as well.
