Default parking brake removal

so today i started removing the parts of the parking brake in anticipation of installing the new parts so i'll finally have a working one(and i'll be able to park on hills finally). the cable running from the frame into the cab was so rusted i ended up taking my angle grinder and cutting it in 2 places as to not disturb the floor board welds(and make it easier to remove). well i'm now stuck at the frame part. how do i remove this part of it? its the part that runs from the floor into the frame. i was going to cut it but when the wind blew there was a strong smell of fuel and i stopped cutting as to not cause a fire(i didn't feel like blowing myself up today by accident) and the blade in my sawszall kept hitting the frame and shattering.

any tips on removing this part?

thanks in advance

Take a pic of the part you are talking about cause I'm not sure what you mean by from the floor into the frame. Is it part of the same cable that goes into the cab?

yes it goes from the pb pedal through the floor and into the frame where the movable part comes out the other side of the frame and connects to the other cable which then runes into the drums.

Did you remove the clip holding it in place already? If so and it is that rusty, I would use a hammer and drift or a punch to knock it loose and pull it out from the top.

thats what i was asking, if there was a clip or not(at least thats what i thought i was asking). how would i go about removing the clip though the one inside the cab just snapped while i was pulling on the the cable.

would it just be best to use a hammer and punch?

Yeah, sorry man, my bad. I re-read your original post. I guess the "gas" smell thing and "blowing myself up" took attention away from the real question.

The cable retainer in the cab unscrews from the cab floor. At least it did in mine. There is a clip on the frame rail, I thought, for the other end that connects to the intermediate cable. Lemme, look at mine tonight when I get home and see how that is held in place.
