Default Noise on initial startup

Hi all

I have a 1994 Dakota with 197000 miles on it. Use it everyday for my job as a lawn guy.

Just started to develop on start up a ticking sound then it clears after a few minutes. Also noticed it blew out some spottles of black watery type substance from the exhaust.

Any advice would be appreciated

Thanks

It could be anything. From bad lifters to the timing chain to piston or rod bearings.

No they are not. The cam shaft turns and pushes up the lifter which pushes up the push rod then that pushes the rocker arms which then open the valves.
