Default dodge dakota transmission

ok i bought a dakota witha bad trans and need to buy a rebuild kit but no sure on what to look it up with. i'm only 15 and not sure what to call it. it came out of a 91 dodge dakota 318 4wd. i don't now anything about it. please help.

You forgot the most crucial part... Automatic or Manual transmission?

So you're saying you need to know what transmission you have? Its the a518 or 46rh. Either name works.

And Tiwtin, its an automatic... there was no v8 5 speed option available until 1994.

thanks guys you helped alot thats cool to know that they started make ing f speeds in 1994. i have a 91 and a 93 but the 93 has a five speed in it. you lier. hahaha just kindn they converted it over.

Het everyone again i found a guy selling the motor trans and differanals
but he say the trans is a 500-A. will it fit. it is a automanitc and mine is it even is out of a 91 dodge dakota.

please help

The A500 (42rh) is a v6 transmission and is not built from the factory to handle the torque of the v8. You would be better off if you kept looking for an A518 (46rh). The A500 may work for a while, but you'll toast it sooner or later if you put it behind a 318.
