Thanks Crazy,

i went to pickapart today and found a 3.9L that was already half apart, so continued to strip off the intake to see what the plenum cover looked like. i see what the issue is.
Can a vacuum gauge be used to help determine if the plenum is leaking?

just look down through the t body and look for a pool of oil in the obttom. that or clamp off the pcv hose and cover the breather with your hand and see if you build a vacuum. i had a pop through the intake but that was also partly due to bad valve stem seals. i had a compound of small issues to deal with since the previus owner gave up on it when the thought it was burning oil and and had a toasted trans.
the wonders a relay and a belly pan gasket and make
now i just need a set of tires and a trans output seal and im set.
