I have a 88` Dakota 2x4, with a 32Rh trans., also have `87 dakota 4x4 with bad trans. Can I swap transmissions, and tail shafts? Will the 2wd trans. bolt up to the transfer case? I can`t find any definative info that says I can`t . Does anyone know whether or not this will work? or do I need a 4x4 trans? Any info will be helpful. thanks.

 

youll either have to get that tranny rebuilt or find another 87 tranny.. done been there with my 89 i tried to put a 87 tranny in. come to find out 87's use a completely different trans that will in no way work.. And yes it has to be a 4x4 transmission if your keeping the 4wd.
